What's it worth

Post

I'm going to be selling my 1982 1.8 GTI as a restoration project and would appreciate an opinion of how much it's worth, I have owned it since 1995 and I seem to remember the female owner telling me it had always been in their family.
It has a 2l bottom end with a standard 1.8 head, full throttle enrichment WUR, Mk2 throttle body, and a vernier cam pulley, it runs very smoothly but the body needs a lott of attention. It has a sunroof and tinted glass.
Basically it will need a new front panel and front wings, the inner wings look very good, the offside rear suspension mount is corroded and the lower section of the A posts need repair,  the rear near side inner arch I have started to repair and will need finishing, both rear arches will need work. It will need a replacement drivers door, exhaust centre and seats plus a complete respray, it's black and is not a small job.
I know it's hard to judge a value without seeing the car but any rough ideas of what it may be worth?

Without pictures or seeing it , £500.

How much do you want for it?

Project cars can often be a nightmare as the buyer can't be 100% sure all the parts are there if it's been dismantled and in boxes….

Thanks for the reply, it is all there apart from the seats and i often start and move it because it's in front of the garage. I now have two Mk1's, a Mk4 which I bought while i was working on the other Mk1 which still isn't finished, and a motorbike, so you can see why I'm thinking of selling it. I've had a bit of interest locally but I'm just not sure what it's value is, I really can't be bothered to break it and would rather see it back onthe road again.
Will take some pictures and post them.

Thanks sportrucker.  I'm finding it hard to get used to the value of all this now, it's just getting silly, I'll take a few pictures and post here in case anyone is interested and perhaps try it on ebay.

Sorry not to have replied before, no excuse.
I'll get some photos taken later and send them but I really don't know what to say about a price which is why ebay could be an option, really it would be best to come and have a look at it although I am at Falmouth in Cornwall. It has copper fuel lines, Sachs HD shocks on the front with JOM spring cups, standard Sachs on the back, all standard springs and stainless flexi brake lines so most of the work involved is on the body.
