My Clipper has been suffering a wee bit lately

It is the 1800 with the Pierburg 2e2 carb which I recently rebuilt including replacement vac pipes and bottom mount.
I can be driving the car perfectly well and all of a sudden the throttle basically stops working and for me to get any power out of the car I have to near enough to put the foot to the floor. It will then clear up aftert a while and go back to normal; intermittently swapping between the two. Also when I lost throttle and let it drop to idle revs it cut out. It wasn't like this before the carb was rebuilt and I have not a clue what I've done

Anyone got any idea's?
Any help is much appreciated
