Reverse Light problem

Just to ask if anyone knows, ive recently done check of all the bulbs on my mk1 golf nearly all front bulbs had gone so changed them but when i checked the back lights all fine apart from the reverse lights which after changing the bulbs has had no effect still no reverse lights!

Is there a separate fuse somewhere that i am missing as i thought there was a fuse for the left side and right side tail lights, but if it was that fuse no back lights would work at all would they?

Any help would be great?

Theres a switch on the gearbox near the clutch cable that goes faulty, take the plug off and bridge it on the plug and see if the lights come on, if they do then its the switch - if they don't then its something else.

The switch has gone on mine which I found out by doing the above.
