Yes the coolant is sufficient, but the Caveat is that you have to completely drain your old, and flush and Back Flush your System and Heater Matrix (best done with the t-stat removed), then you can refill with what ever type that you desire, but flushing it is the key.

In the Archive section under how-to's I have a list of them and one is how to flush your Radiator.

Oil, everyone has there druthers.  I use 20W50 with a good filter, that is Wix, Mann, Mahl, STP, Mobile1, PureolatorGold or GenuineVW.  Stay away from Store-Branded, Generic, Bosch, or FRAM big time.

I have used 10w40 here with no ill will or flashy lights from hades.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

thanks, will flush cooling system and replace the stat,  I can get a Mann filter, does the oil have to be synthetic?

I use regular Dino.  I don't trust full synth on older cars without flushing first.

I've always used 10w / 40 Semi Synthetic.

I’m in the 10/40 semi camp. I do very few miles in mine so only once a year. Even then come out like new.
