MK1 5dr SOLD SOLD SOLD with MOT

Some of you have seen this car already

Its a real ratty mk1…
Ideally spares or repairs tho

Will be on ebay at weekend with tax being weighed in before end of feb

so ?175 or ?250 with Tax

the tax is till August 09 if required

Would make a great spares bin..
But you could drive the car away..

It?s Ratty already ? just needs slamming and a cool car to cruise to shows in

It?s a 5dr GL spec

Its Blue

The Wings look fairly new and don?t seem to have any signs of rust, only snag is they look to have been fitted overly well so might not come off to easily

The front panel is pretty good too

The engine does run well ad the exhaust system is really quiet and doesn?t rattle (looks fairly new)

For last MOT had some welding done also had new brakes pads fitted and set up properly (i.e. rears as well)

It also had a brand new fuse box which alone cost ?160 (the whole service was around ?320)

The car looks to me like it had a fair amount of work done to it at some point in the past, it appears to have had a respray and the tailgate isn?t the original.

Interior ?

Its Blue

The blue dash is pretty straight and could be re-used

Door cards aren?t too bad

Carpet is in one piece, but a little wet, water is leaking in from somewhere

No boot carpet.

Only has front seats now fitted and they are a bit tatty, drivers is split and passangers is dirty

Door cards, main sections don?t look too bad, door tops are all shot tho

The glass isn?t too bad in the windows

The radio works well if you like listening to static noise. I believe this to be the original radio tho so could be cool for retro use

Bodywork

It?s a bit rusty in places, but has an MOT see bottom for more details, every usual place on a mk1 has either been patched or needs patching, there is a lot of plates patches welded in, there is also a lot of rust bubbles, now this could just be from a bad paint job and be a simple fix, but it could also be worse

Hence selling the car as spares or repair

The inner wings have had a bit of rot, but it looks like this may have been plated over when the wing were changed, but i cant confirm this

If you buy it you get a choice of bonnets, either the original blue one (currently fitted to the silver car (which isn't included in the sale) or the rusty bonnet which is currently fitted on the car

The roof is ok, has a couple of small dents

The tailgate looks to be a replacement and has been painted, the rear wiper does not work at all, i dont think its connected up, plus the arm just spins

The doors all have a bit of rust on them too

Only the drivers door works with the key

The ariel is mounted through the scuttle so untouched wing

Bumpers, grille, rear seats and rear carpet have all been removed and are not included in the sale

The indicators have been cable tied to the front panel supports and there is aVW badge cable tied to the centre.. true rat style!!

Engine

Car starts and drives, but is a bit temperamental, I?ve driven it for a few hundred mile and its been ok, but could do with a new accelerator cable as its stiff and if I was going to use it, probably rebuild the carb
use of left foot brake whilst right foot revs is needed when cold

Its had a few ?repairs? done over the years, brackets have broke and wiring/horn relocated

The button for the horn is now a flick switch on the dash

But once its up n running's its not a bad little car

Running gear

The exhaust is quiet and doesn?t rattle, could make a good spare

The steering is sharp and fairly light

The tyres are fairly new and the steel rims have been painted to match the car..

Suspension is fully barge like standard so looks like a 4 x 4 and has massive lean if throwing round a corner

Ideally it needs hitting with the lowering stick or just breaking up for parts

NO warranty whatsoever with this car

It will drive, but may stall/cut out when cold and the accelerator cable may stick

Sold as seen ? it has MOT but I?d say spares or repairs

I bought this car with a view to strip for parts, but cant get round to it and need the space on my drive for a new project
