GTi Lhasa Green trackday/weekend fun car - now ?3000

Im considering selling my beloved play thing and starting again…so I will see if there is any interest….

the car is a 1983 tin top GTi in Lhasa green, which I have spent a shed load on   the body work is pretty good and solid but the paint work isnt 100% perfect when your up close but the car is 25 years old and had 13 other owners   chassis whise its mint though which is all that bothered me. The rear archs are a bit past their best but I do have the repair pannels for them,… I just never bothered getting them done as they didnt get any worse and I dont use the car in the wet.

the engine was rebuilt just over 5000 miles ago and its getting better and better every day! it was rebuilt with over sized pistons to the next size so its completely fresh. The car is also fitted with a Newmans phase 2 280deg cam, which was picked as it was the best trade off between power and still being useable every day (when the weather nice this car gets taken on a 80mile round tip to work every day!!) the idle isnt that lumpy and it will happly pull from idle for town driving, but get it above 2500 and it starts to pick up, above 3500 and now your moving rather swiftly and then abover 4500 and its flying!

the engine has also had the cam shims done only 500 miles ago, a windage tray fitted, a larger late spec sump, a race land 4-2-1 manifold, jetex exhaust system, KN pannel filter and a 1 off cold air feed system from the grill, there is also a Audi % cylinder larger throttle body and the inlet manfold has been opened up to match, plus there is a 16v warm up reg to boost the fueling on wide open throttle, but if driven normally and not flat out it will still happy do 35-40+mpg

the gearbox has had the oil changed twice now as I chnaged it when I got the car and then the push rod seal descided to weep so I took the box off again and changed all the seals and changed the oil and green end cover again for good measure. it has also had all the linkage bushes replaced only a few month ago. there is also a new 16v pressure plate on there with a new vaelo clutch so that will be fine for years to come.

the chassis has FK coil over all round, with new lower arms, ball joints and all mounts changed to poly only a couple of months ago. at the same time the rear beam mounts were done as well and the rear top mounts. the engine front and rear mounts were also changed to help control the engine movement. (it doesnt go anywhere now unlike rubber mounted ones, so no chance of cracking the exhaust) there is also front upper and lower braces.

the brakes are mk3 GTi front calieprs fitted to adaptor brackets and running grooved 280mm discs, these are fitted with yellow stuff pads which are fine for the road, but I also have a set of normal road pads if wanted, the rears are mk4 calipers with mk2 rear discs running low friction green stuff pads at the mo, but i also have yellow stuff to go in the rear too, again running grooved discs. the master cylinder and servo are from a mk2 16v and it runs dot5.1 fluid. there are also braded front and rear hoses.

the wheels fitted are compomtive MO wheels in white fitted with brand new yoko S drive tyres.

inside it has been stripped and comes with 2 cobra monaco S seats - still in FIA date till 2012 i belive but I will have to check that) fitted to offical cobra sub frames and running Ricco Racing 4 point 3" webbing FIA harnesses, again in date till 2012 i believe. there is a rear cage fitted which I believe to be a safety devices cage but is now out of FIA date.

lots of pics and info can be found here - http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=39078&start=90

anything else just feel free to PM me, the car comes with Tax till september and MOT till April 2010 (it passed its last MOT with no issues what so ever  8) ) I have a massive folder of history and reciepts for the car and I have spent a fair chunk on it.

the car is in Nottingham, 10 mins from junc 25 of the M1,

im looking for ?3000. (Was ?3500)

cheers

Karl. :D

edit - some pics so you get a taste of whats on the build thread.

the wings can easily be removed to be sprayed body colour, but I have left them for now as paint = wieght    plus the 2 tone is growing on me…

also thsi weekend I re did the exhaust gaskets as one was weeping slightly and i fitted 3 new gauges as the blank holes were bugging me..
