Ok, time to sell the cabbie…

Mk1 Golf 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

- G-Reg ('89)
- Schwarz Black.
- Approx 115K Miles
- MOT to February 2009
- Road Tax to December 2008

Spec:

- Corrado 15" Estoril wheels.  Polished a few years ago, they've gone through a few winters since so would benefit from a re-polish.
- Lowered front and back on G-Max spring/damper suspension kit.
- White front indicators, tinted side repeaters, crystal half smoked rear lights, 'aero' wipers.
- Five bar single lamp de-badged front grill, painted with red edge trim.
- Great condition standard interior. Late model so height adjustable driver seat.
- Standard roof tonneau cover still present.
- Solid underneath (Having spent the past year welding up the underside of my GTI this is important).
- Full Clifford G5 Alarm and Immobilizer with Proximity Sensors for leaving with roof down (Thatcham 1 Spec to help insurance)

Servicing:

In the past year:
- Head Gasket replaced just over a year ago with new exhaust studs and Inlet/Exhaust manifold gaskets. Head checked and skimmed by Power Units in Hertfordshire. Oil and oil filter changed, coolant system flushed and changed and new thermostat at the same time. April 2007.
- New side cables for roof. Summer 2007.
- Brakes. New front brake pads, rear shoes and brake fluid. Summer 2007.
- Steering. New tie rod ends, steering rack bushes and steering rack gaiters. Rack cleaned and re-greased. Summer 2007.
- Bearings. Rear wheel bearings March 2008, Front Driver side April 2008, Front Passenger side to be fitted with new hub.
- Replaced most of the gear change mechanism bushes summer 2007.
- New Plugs, HT Leads and Air Filter May 2008

There is a pile of GS&F/ECP receipts from work done prior to my ownership, including minor gearbox service, i.e. New seals, oil and push rod.

To do:

- Front end could do with a tidy up following a low speed knock in December. As a result the front Bumper is serviceable but now tatty. A second hand bumper is likely to be a better option if repainting. Likewise, the front grill is cracked around passenger side headlamp. It looks 'ok' as I have glued it back together but you will probably want to replace. These five bar de-badged Grills are only ?35-40 on Ebay, Grills are an easy swop, I would happy to do it as it only takes 5 minutes! Front panel is painted with Black stone chip resistant paint.
- Passenger side front bearing is shot, I have bought new Hub and Bearing, but not yet fitted i'll get this done over the next week or so.
- Having changed gear change mechanism bushes they have now settled and the mechanism could do with slight adjustment, 1st is very close to 3rd.
- Bonnet release cable snapped recently! This should be an easy swop, it hasn't bothered me as it is easy to release the bonnet via the front grill.

These pictures are pre front end knock and make it look a bit better than it is…I broke my digital camera so can't get current pictures of it at the moment!

Insurance company valued it at just under ?2000 last year.  But obviously it has things that need sorting out now, so I am very flexible, lets start with ?1500 ono.  Ideally I want it to pay off my Bandit or get me a decent Caddy…

Questions preferably by Email.  I'm based in Reading, Berkshire.
