its just an allen key down the metering head to tune it. if the co is out it will affect the running, how badly depends how far out it is!

rubjonny mention of a TTS - looked on eBay & there's this 1 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262085370857?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
It has a black top, emailed the guy & he said it has the Temp at 35Deg, 8secs on there, 12v 40w also same part #0280130214. yet no 043906163A #… & it has a black connector not brown - still the same item & does the same job i assume…???

looks fine to me, probably just a revised part or its becase its not a VW specific one just a generic bosch part. the bosch number 0280130214 is the same as yours so its all good :)

the other part number 043906163A is the VW specific number that bosch would have stamped on it before sending out to VW parts

I just know them as 'hose clips', vw still stock them if you wanted to go that route?

N  10258101 - clamp, 23-35x9x0.5 - 2.49+VAT

you can get specific tools for them, but I've used mole grips no problems. its a bit tricky when they are in cramped locations then the proper tools come into their own, but for the front flange mole grips will do you. only thing is they may mark your new hose clips so you may want to invest in the proper tools, your call.

theres a cool remote reach version for the tricky access ones, but its a little pricey iirc

I only see rubjonnys reply so I guess you are talking about tool for the clamps?
Might me more useful if you just post a reply so anyone else reading this may find it useful in the future?

can try and see how you go, I use mole grips as you can fine tune the openign to suit various clips, then they will lock into place freeing up both hands for wiggle action

If you are going to stick with the original type hose clips, this is the tool you need: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/laser-4024-hose-clamp-pliers

like Mark says, not cheap, but well worth it, especially for the awkward locations, like the heater matrix!

no gasket sealer, theres an oring part number 037121687 that goes into a groove on the flange. usually  VW include this with the flanges but since you have bought it elsewhere it may not be included

make sure the head surface is clean before you refit too, if its badly corroded clean it all up best you can then fill with chemical metal and sand smooooth

Update guys.. the Flange Coolant isn't the right one!! #026121133C  basically the Flange currently on my car has 3 water outlets… & these are not available!!! (not sure about the term that it has with a coolant through/to the oil filter/pulley/exchange etc & one to the top of the radiator) got to try & get a decent 2nd hand one from somewhere… the search is on!!!!!

ah I know why! You have a late DX engine, with the water->oil cooler, rather than the early DX with the air->oil cooler, my bad!  The one you need is 027121133A.

What you could do is do some scrappy hunting to locate a T piece and use that to join the 2 hoses into 1 outlet. Automatic mk3 golfs are a good source for these, depending on the pipe diameter. the other option is delete the oil cooler, or use the oil cooler-pump-flange hose from a mk3 golf as they go back to a 2 outlet front flange.

Ideally use a 1.8 8v one, if you can find with an oil cooler. possibly diesels? the 2.0 8v one is slightly longer, but then again some come with a plastic fitting at the bottom so the upper hose coudl be removed and cut down to suit if you get one of those
