SOS car wont start SOS
having some problems with my 1.8 cabby on sunday she wouldnt start. i checked all the plugs and they were pretty dirty . but were still sparking dizzy cap wasnt wet and there was enought feul getting through. so i changed all the spark plugs and no different
about a month ago i adjusted the choke as it keeped cutting out on cold start
is it likely that i could have givin too much choke and have caused the engine to flood
i have looked in the haynes manual but cant quite work it out
help me please dd

Also it may sound like an airleak you have and possilble split air pipe or common carb flange split

other than air leak beyond the carb. check it's not arcing down the turret of the coil. we had it recently on a GTI (you know who you are) even the AA man was stumped till one of the 4 owners stood around it noticed it. it had a spark at the plugs and everything seemed fine. go figure.

i checked the dizzy cap inside and out. no moisture there. i checked the spark plug against the block and it was sparking at the right point.
even when i put the new plugs in i checked they were sparkin put them in with not a slight hint of fireing up.
is it possible that there could of been that much dfeul in there that the plugs just got wet straight away???
im not a mechanic, i know but i do enjoy doing things like this so i am very grateful for your advice.
