Who needs Hadrian panels when you're on the case! great fabrication!

You used zinga much yourself. How long does it take to dry? The stuff i coated yesterday could easily be scraped off with your fingernail. Is this normal.

They state that "surface preparation is vital". They say that you need do grit blast the area to be paint to a certain roughness which i didn't do.
Now where did i put that sand blaster…

Small update from today
I finished off the inner sill.
I managed to get the radius at the front fitting better too.
Next i welded in the corner patch.
I decided to seam weld the edge where the 3 panels all meet. That way no water will ever get in… Hopefully
Next i made the floor patch to sort this.
Used the good old bench to bend the sheet steel.
This is the patch i made.
I put the strengthener ribs in it to make it look stock.
Then tacked it in place.
Then fully welded it.
Then sanded the welds smooth.
The bottom edge has been spot welded like the original.
Gave everything a quick coat of acid etch for now, as eventually i'll sand blast the whole floor then coat with Zinga, epoxy mastic, stone chip and then top coat.
Hope to get the rest of the floor patched tomorrow.

Update from today
First i cut the inner floor out and braced the suspension mount.
I made this panel after alot of cutting, bending and sanding.
Several trial fits later and its getting somewhere close.
Tacked it in place. Note the pre drilled holes around the mount for added strength.
Then fully welded.
Sanded everything smooth and gave a quick coat of acid etch.
Well thats another job done. All thats left is to do the inner floor with the angled piece where your feet go and that will be the drivers side pretty much sorted.

Just signed up for a bodywork course so I can undertake an old mk1 escort I've found. I know I'm swearing there but I love em!
plus I've always wanted a caddy and they're all a little worse for wear nowadays so very handy skills…
Got a long way to go to get to your standard though!!
Keep up the good work!!

Thanks Cubed. You'll learn loads on that course. Is it a college based one? Take loads of notes for reference in the future. I still look through my old folders every now and again.
