Use the conversion guide (PM ManciGTI if you don't have it) and use the dreaded haynes to lable up both the existing loom and the donor 16v loom (looms if you're running the KR ISV).
With everything labled, it is a piece of cake 8) A voltmeter also comes in handy…. R

It runs now however as it warms up the idle drops til the point where it will cut out. any ideas where to begin. had a mechanic give it a go with the mixture and hes done the best he can but hes convinced somethings not working as it should.
if thats the case what could it be?

the red and yellow wire in the pic is for the fuel pump so does not get used
the black and yellow wire is for the throttle switch so should be connected if the isv was wired in right.
for it to run right you need to get the isv wired in or it will be tricky to set up. also need the overrun valve and vacum switch on the airbox
you can use the aav from the mk1 which will be easier to fit and will enable you to set it up so the idle wont change much as it warms up, but i found it will still cut out when you dip the clutch as the revs drop too fast unless the idle is set high

Generally speaking my car doesnt always fire up first time, when it does start with the aav connected it gets to a point where the idle will drop below 1000 so far to the point it will cut out the oil light will flash on and off eratically when this is happening.
Run the car with the aav disconnected it idles abit steadier and holds round about 1000-1200 after a moment or two the oil light on dash turns off.
Engine has an awful time trying to start when hot.
What should i check or adjust to correct any of these issues?

its probably easier to set it up with it removed and the pipes plugged with sommething then you know when its hot it should idle ok.
first thing to check is the timing and co reading
