I have a 1.8 cabby, I was wondering every how many miles does the cambelt need changing???

I'm still waiting for my haynes manual to arrive from Ebay. is it simple to check the belt??
hope it's not like the VR4 I have were it would be easier to plat fog than take the cover off to check the cambelt

its not too bad. You might need to remove the engine mount bolt and raise the engine slightly, to wiggle the tensioner on/off. Also the crank pulley bolts will be tight (need an impact wrench, ideally) and you might round them off in an attempt at removal. Put the engine at TDC and mark the position of the crank, cam and intermediate shaft with Tipp-ex, before you take off the old belt and you'll be a happy bunny.

its a cambelt and if it snaps your engine is dead pretty much.
