Don't know what the ads supposed to be telling me but I want to drive my MK1 on a road like that. No traffic & no speed cameras …. wonderful

surely if the citi golf was fettled with and brought up to standard and lets face it if a lupo or a fox can pass safety tests ect why wont a citi?

i dont see how it wouldnt be financialy viable, i mean if VW can import the beetle why not the citi? im sure it'd sell by the thousands, like people have said VW thrive on past sucess, made only by the mk1 really so why not revamp it and bring it back instead of spending money desiging and building total monsters like the fox :dontknow:

For me new cars have taken the refinement too far, especially the GTI. A gti is branded as a performance hatch, a drivers car. But too much comfort and refinement ruin them.

Of recent years i think the lupo gti has captured the "GTI feel" perfectly, refined enough to drive it daily, but raw enough to feel like your actualy driving it instead of piloting a cocoon of leather and vinyl.

they would never bring the sa citi to britain because it isnt fashionable enough, it would only appeal to a minority of car owners, and weve all got one already.

yeah with its funny rear 1/4 swage lines and aircon   who does it think it is

I hope they DONT start making or importing mk1`s again, theres too much of this "retro" ??? bandwagon going on, fair enough old skool is cool and i love it but only original stuff is what its about, surely? anything thats a "remake" loses some of its credibility in my eyes, because its not from the "era" its pretending to be, its a mere imposter, aside from replacement panels and parts as thats just how it is, but whole cars would be bad

Yeah but no reason not to incorporate retro styling touches to the Mk6 Golf. For example, round front headlamps, if 4x headlamps then make the inner ones smaller; rectangular rear lamps; make it more angular than the curves of the Mk5 (they could use the characteristic angle of the rear hatch?), and I'm sure a whole load of other little styling cues from the Mk1.

assuming this is for real, as touched on by malc and dubboy.
vw need to think about how it supports/sustains spares support for a whole number of its older models before it can seriously think about approaching clubs, forums, groups that do actually care about the heritage of the brand about its latest groovy web-site launch.

am new on here, you might want to canvass other forums eg scirocco register and corrado forum if you want to receive even wider feedback.

imagine if aircooled heard that!

reality is
i should imagine the cost of the machines/ing for older parts doesnt justify it.

but technical information and maybe original design blueprints would help
as would a viable web prescence on forums such as this.

in the time ive been on here  not one contact has been made re a relationship with vw, if this guys spammin then so what?
it cant do any harm to take the risk that some one who may be a bit more openminded than we think is gonna read this thread at vw.
so how about we all make it easy for him and try and reach a consensus about what vw could realistically do to help

otherwise we run the risk of fulfilling the already described stereotype and gauranteeing that they dont bother tryin again.

and talkin about senior members, where are they?

as i said b4 this may just be this guys webbie feedback but if it isnt what the hell are vw gonna get from this thread?

rebuild in progress....

anybody interested in taking that as a challenge to get in touch with them and make them aware of us all…?

Would that be possible?

yeah, great.
if you valued our opinions, maybe volkswagen would like to help keep our mk1's alive and kicking. video editing doesn't keep a mk1 from the scrap yard. cheap and obtainable parts do. how about setting up a discount scheme for members on parts and servicing? how about an advice website/link on technical specs. maybe a couple of knowledgeable members of volkswagen could join the forum and chip in.

that my friend would restore a bit of my faith in vw.

Just a bit of input here….I have heard from a good source that…wait for it……VW will be reproducing parts for the Mk1 starting this summer….I bet thats something you didnt know Chris …… 8)
So VW will be keeping the Worlds favourite hot hatch alive…VW,we praise you….. :notworthy:
