Mars Red Campaign

Just collected my mk1 from the body shop, not as drastic as it might sound!

Its been in for some work because i thought i could live with some of the imperfections on the paint work etc but i couldnt. The bonnet was resprayed in 1992 as a landrover leant on it when it was reversing.. so when the sun was on it you could tel lit was a different colour, plus the paint must have been soft cause there were stone chips all over the bonnet. Also had 2 tiny bits of rust at the bottom of the windscreen pillars and the top of the drivers wing had a light dent from someone checking the suspension or something!

Anyway its all been sorted now and looks absolutely stunning, but it bloody well should do cause its cost me ?920! This was for:

Wing tops, bonnet, screen pillars, ikkle dent in sunroof, new windscreen rubber!

Was cleaning the golf up at the weekend to take some pics of it to post, Id put the overspray over the hoses and radiator cowl out of my mind and was going to get some solvent to clean them up..  unfortunately when i got to cleaning the wheels i noticed that all four of the Perreli centres are totally fecked. Some monkey has cleaned the wheels with an industrial acid wheel cleaner or something and it has stripped the paint of back to the plastic in places.. I was Livid, went up to my PC and wrote a letter straight away listing all the faults, took it back and left it blocking thier entrance. I have called the bank this morning and cancelled the cheque.

I cant beleive they have the b alls to return a car back to the owner in a worse state than when it arrived with them.. and charge the owner ?923!

Yeah i did, they did a great job on my uncles Aston Martin V8 and an old lexus he had. Unfortunately they appear to have had an off week when they did my baby.

So after a month and 3 days of having my golf Crosbie Cain & Kennish have finally returned my car in an acceptable state. Bloody hell, why they even tried to give it back to me as it was beggars belief.

I have attached some pics of it taken when i got home, i have since applied some swisswax in the garage and its gleaming now!





I have a load of parts on the way from a chroming specialist in the uk who uses all genuine VW parts as i intend to dress the engine bay up a bit. I will keep all the original parts i swap though. I am also very tempted to get another set of P slots and have the polished as i think they look.. different.. but im undecided as yet. I still may sell it and get a turbo conversion mk1.. a really really nice one i have seen has me so tempted!   :dontknow:  8O
