Gear box and mounts
Flywheel and clutch - not needed is putting in a manual engine
Steering column
Steering rack
Gear change linkage
Carb linkages
Throttle cable and pedal
Need to mod the loom to give reversing light in the engine bay and delete the inhibitir switch.
We did one a few months back and changed the engine and box as the engine head gasket was gone and engine seized.
We've got all the parts you need.
Cheers

This has come up before in the past, the search engine is your best friend. You'll need linkage, pedal box, clutch cable and fitting bits, all the transmission mounts (there's 3, and they're different on Mk2), throttle cable, and probably a few more bits too.
To do the engine conversion, you'd need even more, especially if you're starting from a carb engined car - ie extra wires to run the ignition and plug into the AAV/WUR/CSV/TTS etc, fuel pipes, metering head, induction pipework, fuel pump, fuel relay, wiring for it, accumulator, fuel tank, cage for pump, etc.
Also you'll need to lower & stiffen the suspension, fit anti roll bars, upgrade the brakes at the front, possibly plumb in and fit a rear compensator valve, larger rad, oil cooler.
Question is, if you wanted the performance of a 16V engine, why did you buy a 1.6 carb auto?

i was after a tin top gti too and run the cabby and tin top as dailys
however, ive decided to throw some cash at the cabby and get it tip top…which will eventually involve the engine and box swap

?150 down the pan then? You're going to spend a lot on extra bits firstly to convert it to manual, and to convert to fuel injection, even before you start on upgrades and other stuff relating to the engine conversion. By all means it CAN be done, but whether its cost effective, :dontknow:
I was under the impression that the availability of reasonable cabby GTIs isn't that bad, especially if you accept a few faults and are happy to spend a little money to sort these kinds of things out? Again :dontknow: :dontknow: in these funny old times!
