Over the years there have been some VW shows which have acquired a legendary status, as events which stood out above the crowd, as being amongst the greatest VW shows ever staged. VW Action 2008 is going to be one of those events.
It?s time to start planning your trip to the true ?granddaddy? of all UK and European VW events, VW Action. You could start by saving ?5 each, booking your tickets in advance at www.vwaction.co.uk/vwaction Hell that ought to more than cover the increase in petrol prices even if you are coming from Aberdeen in a Toareg!
Whatever the weather, there is a packed weekend of events and activities planned. Of course VW Action is the only UK event which brings many of the stars of the European Shows over to the UK. OK, the travel bill is enormous, but when was the last time hardcore VW enthusiasts in the UK could view genuine Splits, Rometsch, and Hebmullers alongside cars like the Otto Bros ?Dangerine?, which is already acquiring historic status? Other Europeans include Andrew Szabo, driving to the much improved Santa Pod venue from Budapest, Hungary in his Beetle. Andrew completed the 2008 Budapest to Bamako Rally in his purpose built Baja, and is bringing the completed film of the Hungary to Mali adventure to be shown at VW Action.
For all VW enthusiasts, VW Action 2008 will be their Woodstock, Isle Of Wight Festival and the 1966 World Cup Final all rolled into one. The list of events and activities which the show has to offer is immense. Show & Shine events both Saturday and Sunday, Sunday?s featuring the ?Europe?s Most Beautiful VW? trophy, VW Off-Road Racing, Drag Racing VWs from the UK and Europe, The Camper Van Cook-Off, the VW Action Auction, and the VW Action Club Olympics.
The main marquee will feature displays from the RestoWagen and B289 clubs, whilst Type 3 & 4 lineup, 10 years of the New Beetle, and many other displays will flank the show field. Add to this the Jet Car Show, the Monster Truck Show, 2 days of Drag Racing with super fast British and European VWs as well as 5 second, 300MPH dragsters. Additionally there are Pinstriping Seminars, Fairground Rides, the Poi Circus, Ten absolutely superb live music acts, Comedy, Campervan Cook-Off, Club and Family Camping Areas, Traders, Caterers, Bar, Pyjama Party Disco and Sleepover, Films, quality Toilets and Showers, and more besides.
For tomorrow?s VW enthusiasts, there?s Children?s VWorld, with a FREE bouncy castle, facepainter, toys, videos, colouring competition, sandpit, and ?favourite face? competition. New for 2008 is the Children?s Show & Shine, open to anyone under 17 to display their bike, pedal car, scooter etc. All children?s competitions have prizes for all entrants.
For the full rundown, visit www.vwaction.co.uk/vwaction then book your ticket for the show which has served VW enthusiasts best for well over 30 years. And it?s not only us who say so… here are a few visitor endorsements from the 2007 event…
?Thanks for putting on such an awesome show, I'm sure I'm not the only one who drove away saying that was probably one of the best shows ever!"
?Thank you. As a mum of four it was great to have 'free' stuff for the kids to do, it made a huge difference actually being able to say 'yes you can have your face painted' and 'yes you can go on the bouncy castle' . The whole event was superb"
?Me and the family really enjoyed it…the first time I've stayed all day Sunday in about 10 visits to the Pod….didn't want to go home."

last year the camping area is where the cars were parked up as a club stand is it possible to do this again made life so much easier
May as well Ben, some were saying earlier tho that it became deifficult that way for those on thesunday, but the only one who's agreed to sunday only is EW
So I'll just book club camping, and then we can just park thecars up in some sort of line.. (all 4 of them)
unless anyone else wants to say somehing else then I'll email them on monday to confirm it
