TDi engine version
My first post on the forum so hello everyone.
Had a few mk1's down the years but moved on from them a while back.
Looking to return back to the scene and want something different.
Im a big fan of the 150 gtdi engine and was wondering if it can go in a mk1.
Ive heard people say it is possible. If so is it a big job ?
My local mechanic is into golfs and mentioned to me a few years back that he love to do it for himself.
However, if its complex id rather get it done properly. Is there companies out there that can do it ? Im near aberdeen.
The idea would be to buy a really good complete mk1 and buy the diesel engine seperate.
I should have between 5-6k to spend initially.
Replies appreciated.

It is the 150 tdi engine out of a mk4 id want to go in cause i plan to get it chipped to 190.
Im needing some finer details ie.
Will engine fit straight it.
What about the electrics ?
Brakes, suspension etc ?
Just need some details so i can discuss it better with my mechanic.
Is there anyone that does this conversion proffesionally as i might go down this route. Travelling isnt a problem

You do realise one of these engines would thoroughly beat any small block engined car???? And probably give a stock GTI a run for its money too.

Get it down the strip. We all need to know the 1/4 mile time of these things.

There you go Bert/Rov, the challenge has been laid down. Can you do the 1/4 mile in less than a day? PS, the timing gear trips off after 45 secs.
