Replacing a Pierburg carb with manual weber
Questions
What do I change to?
What should I pay new/2nd hand?
How hard is it to do yourself?
Is there anyway to service/overhaul the Pierburg before splashing the cash?
cheers

Ebay is a good place to look for the carb, just make sure you DEFO get all the brackets and the manual choke cable assembly, plus a weber service kit, basically new gaskets etc (also from ebay, just do a search for them) also make sure the weber is jetted correctly for your engine ie for a 1.6 or a 1.8 as the jets are different sizes !
Also search on here for help
Plus fit a new inlet manifold rubber flange as you defo dont want any new air leaks.
I'm also fitting a new accelerator cable at the same time.
hope that helps !

I had the carb off and cleaned it up and checked all the hoses. It seems OK. Might try the service kit though. For that price you can't loose.
I put it all back together and hey presto it ran. Today no start. I think I might have the leads in the wrong order as well.

This one below shows how i've just re-joined the coolant hose's together on the in-let manifold, as the weber doesnt need coolant for its choke as it has the manual one!
