if any1 is intrested then feal free to post comments etc. ive decided on a 2litre conversion and am contemplating running on twin 40 webbers but not got that far yet,
first of tonight i picked up a GTi engineering engine (bottom end smashd to smithereens but head was spot on!!!!)
spec of the head is as follows:
RE1900 conversion
Gasflowed head with matching ported and gas flowed inlet and exhaust manifolds.
40mm inlet valves
35mm exhaust valves
sports camshaft with 276 duration and adjustable pulley.
reprofiled inlet/exhaust valve seats
got this head a abit of a bargin to be honest which i always like
on saterday im collecting an audi 80 engine 3A engine code 2litre that will be used as the donor engine.
so far that is it and i will update more and opefully get some pictures up of the build.
not got a car to put it in yet as i decided to build the eingine up whilst looking for a tidy mk1 tintop to place the lump in.

Login to a private Photobucket.com albumhow much did the block set you back, whats the condition like?
PAUL
ein Volkswagen
over the weekeds and spare time i decided to strip it down and its in good nick on stripping it down there was no wear on anything, could easily lob it back together as is, but for the sake of the parts i can get at trade price its not worth messing about with, only thing im struggling to locate is piston rings as vw said they went obsolete in 2002.
The heads been sent of to a mate who engineers heads to have all the valve guides replaced and re-seated and lapping the valves in aswell as acid dipping whilst its all stripd
will get some pics up soon
anyone got the torqu settings for the auid 80 3A bottom end they can photo copy and email me?

Login to a private Photobucket.com albumgot to do a few bits and bobs to the golf now, going to renew the brake lines with braided flexis, the vauxhall brake upgrade i reckon with the bigger servo and maser cylinder, the cylinder head is still away for re lapping of the valves and acid dip to clean up so awaiting on the head really regarding the engine part of it.
will try and get pics up, these short days with dark evenings are really depressing and not making me want to do anything when i get home from work but all should be back on track shortly

Login to a private Photobucket.com albumalso sent the inlet manifold of to get powder coated. but i totaly forgot to send my radiater cowling and a few engine bay things of so will have to get a fair bit together and sent of inone to make it worth while.
trying to get all the bits together now b4 i go on with it so i can just get cracking and get it all in at once.
im doing to 22m servo upgrade but think im going to keep standerd GTi brakes up front apart from discs and pads. does the servo make much of a diffrence??

Login to a private Photobucket.com albumright now i have my gearbox all cleaned up replaced the push rod bush and oil seal aswell as the big seal for the input shaft.
got a new clutch and fitted that, so at the moment the engine is all built up with the box on. had to fit a new engine mount as the old one was well and truely buggerd.
took my wheels down the powder coaters tonite on the way home from work with a few brackets and radiater cowling etc so looking forward to getting them back.
im contenplating hiding the wires for the engine bay through the chassis legs but failing that i will just use the wire tubing i got to neating it up.
if i remember i have got to order a few things of crazzyquiff when he returns on the 7th.
will get some pics of the engine tomorrow hopefully.
the interior is gone, replaced this with the corrado rear bench… what a bit of a ball ache this was.. well not to bad just abit time consuming whilst u get it all lined up in and out in and oput in and out etc but its in now and ive just got to make the sides up. got a few door cards im going to sacrifice so it will match the rear cards. will get some pics again, or if u search corrado interior its in there,
the front seats will go in soon after ive removed my carpets cleaned them renewed all the stereo cables and ran some wires for a small sub and amp that will be hidden in the boot.
ran my new fuel lines all ive got left to do is underseal halfway back to the front as ive done the rear when i had my axle of, thats been painted laquerd and put back on. all new rear brakes wheel cylinders new flexis etc etc. got new hubs for the front going to put drilld and grooved discs on with pads lower the front on the gmax setup ive got for the time being.
then thats that bit sorted. i then want to get it in the bodyshop for a respray but before then ive got to fix my sunroof and collect a few window seals and the window scraper seals ?? any ideas on where from??
but will get some pics up soon. allin all its coming on pretty well at the moment. hopefully should have it done for newquay.

Login to a private Photobucket.com albumi need to repace mine but they appear to be soooooooooo expensive - even from Crazyquiff - i've had a few people saying to use 8mm microbore copper pipe (central heating pipe..) which i happen to have a spare 10 metres in the loft.
did you do rigid front to rear or braided ? if rigid - what - steel / Copper / plastic?

Paul_C and hairy - thanks for the info - I'll look up Automec - that where i got the brake pipes from so i'll look again!.
