if it was a real 2.0l t nova you should have been left standing.
loads more bhp loads lighter and a turbo??
rebuild in progress....

You can spent 10's of thousands on the engine and it will still be crap.
remember you can not polish a t**d.
No standard nova will beat a mk1 gti, when you start uprating the engines, it should be Nova turbo against a mk1 1.8t.
My money is on the golf.

Another thing, all vauxhalls through out the ages right to modern day have ALWAYS been quicker than the equivelent Golf - sorry. Doesn't mean their any good though.
Its an age old thing trying to prove your 112bhp still cuts it against a newer hot hatch. :dontknow: still not as good as the claim I once heard that a standard MK1 Golf GTI was quicker than a subaru impreza
Its pub talk and should stay there

I can waste quite a few of these so called super minis even in my "hefty" sportline.
I think it comes down to the simplistic design, even though its as aero dynamic as a house brick  at least it has no catalyst, and its raw, without electronic gizmos and ecu`s controlling its power output and fueling, as long as you got fuel and air going in, its off and away, simple as that
I dont care if my cabs slow anyway its not about speed in that car for me, it looks cool, it goes well enough, its reliable, and comfortable and its a mk1 golf, its all that you need 8)

With 200bhp (and a little more weight than the GSi I had) a Nova with a C20LET would devestate a Golf GTI unless it was a 220bhp or more in a straight line.
Round the corners though, the Golf would leave it, but Novas aren't exactly rubbish handling wise.
I prefer my Golf, but the Nova wasn't as bad as people assume they are, it was as good as any other late 80s / early 90s car (and never broke down, not once)
