Just a thought.
If nobody else comes to the rescue, I'll have a look through my manual and see if I can come up with an answer.

sorry mate i was i bit sparse on the explanation, I don't have front fogs only rearsops:
Ahh, I'll start again then. I'll stand corrected but I was under the impression that you only needed one rear fog light. I was also under the impression that it was standard practice to fit only ONE fog light at the rear. This reduced the chances of it being confused with brake lights. Check out a modern car and see if I'm wrong!
As for fixing the issue, have you looked for broken wires? Have you tried the bulb you know to be good in the broken fitting? Are all other lights in that cluster working okay? Look for a broken earth connection and if none of that helps I'll look at my pdf manual.

I think you are right, but if there is just one, it should be on the offside or centre, not just the nearside.
AFAIK, from when I last changed a mk1 loom (long time ago) the off side foglight is just an extenstion in the wires from the nearside, in theory with the fault being on the offside, tracing a fault should be easier. As Tian says it must be in the wires/connections/bulb/bulb holder somewhere across the back of the car between the two bulbs. You could always try continuity testing for breaks somewhere along the line.

Mine failed a MOT 2 years a go with both rear fogs being too dim. After some consultation on here it was decided it should only have one, so I removed the nearside one and the remaining one shone much brighter.
The previous garage I'd used never noticed.
Try just getting the offside one to work.
