As for those alloys on the cabrio, if they're gen. VW then I'm stumped ! I don't recognise them. Look nice on the car BTW…..

There was a guy @ SWM9 who told me they were original VW mk1 alloy's (sorry fella - forgotten your name - remember the car though. GTI version of mine that belongs to his missus. Allegedly… )
Anyone else the wiser :dontknow:

Its not so much that they are overtly modified. But Id say that theres a fair chance that they have both been rebuit to near original spec (smoked lenses here, high discharge bulbs there) which is highly commendable. 8)
And yes, its the simple changes that make the difference here. BBS RMs and a healthy drop are classic mods, but they have been carried out with a real eye for detail. Plenty of people have done the same and in my opinion he results dont look nearly as good. The stance, for instance, is just about perfect on both cars, and neither are what I would describe as 'over lowered'
To me its obvious that great care and attention have gone into creating a look that is close to standard!
the wheels are BBS RS btw  easy mistake to make
and you're right whoever said it, it was taken at the worthersee tour. at night its so crowded that the petrol station created "studio" lighting so people took it in turns cruising through to have their pictures taken
personally i think its a brilliant idea

They shouldn't be shiny and if you don't do it properly after a thousand miles or so the paint will start to look awful as it will get stone chips all over it.
Use some decent black to black and really work it in

Build up a good finish and it'll last, believe me.
Apologies for getting the BBS wrong - I never have been quite sure (until now!)

Nice 8) , I think the next Golf classic will be these early mk2s - small bumper, small front spoiler and quarter lights. I had an early silver one just like this and it was a great car - you can keep your big bumper oak green mk2sthis is the way forwards ( other than a mk1 of course  )
Totally agree, always preferred the small bumper MK2 over the big bumper version. Also agree with the oak green thing, it's not a bad colour just not my personal fave on a mk2.

Always nice to see one of the early ones. The similiarity to the mk1 is much more marked..
Lots of slats in the front grille
Small bumpers
Wing mirrors halfway down the door
Quarterlights
Wipers set for left hand drive etc..
BBS RAs. My favourite!
Cheers,
Drew.
