Original vinyl soft top
Would anyone happen to know where I can get my hands on a Grey Vinyl hood for a Mk1? The one I currently have has just perished and the only one's I can find are either blue of black.
It's a powered hood and I'm assuming that I'k be able to reuse the window, headliner, cabling etc. - Would |I be wrong to assume that?
I've spent weeks restoring the other bits of the car to original and now discover this!
Doh.

www.autohoods.co.uk or www.carhoodsdirect.co.uk have them but I'm not sure what the quality is like.
If you want to fit it yourself then I found this doc on a website a couple of years ago that I can't find any more, good job I downloaded it when I did! its normally available in the download section of the site but I think there's a problem with it at the mo.

Would be interesting to see what the instructions are like that come with your hood - the prices are cheap on that site, it looks like they offer a cheaper 'standard' hood as well as an 'original' hood
You will have to assess the condition of the other bits to decide if they need replacing. I think its preferable to change the side tension cables though.
My rear frame is really rusty and definately needs changing…
i've bought a new frame and rubber seal ready to fit when I change the hood. They came from www.gpcvwaudi.com
Read Prowler's hood saga too for some more info:

let us know how you get on changing it.
Cheers,
Ross
