Very well done Daisy. Glad it came off in the end. Its a nightmare trying to find a spot to suit everyone and once decided upon you sit back and wonder whether anyone will turn up!!
Our 1st meet was good, 5 guys…none called 'Mo' as it happens, arrived in good time. I am looking forward to the next meet as Mrs Dano has agreed to let me play out. She's even contemplating coming along with BabyDub in the Mk3 16v!!!
Dan (I'll shut up now ops: )

What no tin tops ?
On my trip up to the meet there was a red tin top GTI with (I think) the reg VTP 969Y that I was sure must have been going to the meet but it never showed! I was stuck in traffic on the motorway going in the same direction and got his attention, he looked a little shocked that another Mk1 was waving! He turned off for Taunton but at the wrong junction!
I saw a few other cabs on the trip back too, looks like theres a load more owners that need capturing!
It was great to be part of the first meet and to meet those I did and well done to Daisy for finally getting the meet off the ground. I tried when the old forum was still alive but failed miserably!
When I get my tin top back on the road I'll take it for a spin up to Taunton, it'll be a nice run for it. It took me 2 hours to get there but only 1 on the way back, traffic was much better.

I was a bit harsh, please dont take offence! Its a bit difficult in slow moving traffic to take your eye off the road too much.he looked a little shocked that another Mk1 was waving!
I almost missed everyone there too due to the traffic, and I did actually take the same exit as you to try and get their quicker by going through Taunton but it didn't help. I would have been gutted too if I had missed it after driving for so long, I bet it took you a fair while just to get there from Exeter as well.
It was the tailgate decal that foxed me! Looks like a nice tidy car you have.p.s its only a driver

No tin tops though unlucky! I think we should have a point system with bonus points for tin tops and caddys!
I think its because all you poncey southerners prefer the cabs to pose in. You do have the better weather!
Right I?m getting back to my hotpot, yum……..
We are still the champions so better luck next time.
I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday
