just to confirm for anyone reading this that the cabrio up to 1983 use the same fuel tank and filler neck as the mk1 tintop, then from 84 onwards they got the larger tank, shallower boot with space save spare and shorter filler neck

Dam and blast……
Here's mine with a hole in it, I'm changing the engine and fitting new injectors and don't want grit and water in my fuel system. It does look the same as yours.

I think heating it up and bending the pipe will just end up crushing the bit of pipe which is bent.
You can see the difference
Cut and welded
Trial fit yesterday and all good so just getting painted now.
