Sadly it's time to part with my Tintop, I don't have the time to work on it that it deserves:

Purchased around 2008 with a poorly executed 16v KR engine swap and some questionable mods by the previous owner.

Engine Swap completed correctly then car partially restored (including replaced wings, new rear arches, rusty sunroof cut out and replaced, partial floor replacement) and full exterior respray 2008, used as a daily driver until head gasket failure in 2011, taken off the road, engine swapped from 1.8 16v KR to 2.0 16v 9a, then garaged until 2021

Mechanically everything is there to build a great car, however, the bodywork needs some attention to bring it up to a good level, specifically the passenger door and the front end (replacement front end included in sale).

2.0 litre bottom end (Corrado 9a short block)

Ported and polished 16v head (Golf GTI Mk2 KR)

Kent GF1602R 264/258 Camshafts and vernier pulley

Ported and Polished KR inlet manifold

Jetex exhaust system

Dubpower stainless exhaust manifold


Eibach lowering springs

Eibach anti-roll bars

Poly bushed (not engine mounts)

Golf mk2 GTI rear calipers

Astra GTE Front Calipers

Electric window conversion

Electric sunroof

Golf Mk2 16v Clocks and stalks

VDO Oil, Water and Voltage Gauges fitted and working.

Mk4 Golf Recaro front seats (replacement mk1 front seats to match rears included)

Corrado 15” BBS Alloys

Good premium tyres all round, fitted 2021, very few miles covered.

Cambelt changed summer 2021

Gearbox flange seals changed recently

Arches rolled (fronts have been overdone, plastic arches included in sale, not fitted to show good solid state of arches)

Trailing arm chassis mounting points have been welded and repaired summer 2021, now fully solid

Boot has been semi smoothed, badges and rear wiper delete (loom is still there if required)

Wireless Immobiliser fitted (all fobs, including the master included)
Brake and fuel lines replaced

Headlight warning buzzer fitted

Relay 99 for intermittent wipers fitted.

 The  Head unit fitted is not the one pictured, a retro style bluetooth Blaupunkt unit now fitted.


The bad bits….

Passenger door skin needs replacing/repair
Passenger door check strap has come away from the body, will require welding or a simple bracket made.
Front end and lower valance corrosion (advisory on MOT), complete front end included in sale
Small dent on boot.
Sill seams have been crushed by Kwikfit are a little crusty but the sills are solid.
Mk1 Seats and runners included to return to OE spec
Rear wheel bearing advisory on MOT
Running a little rich, would benefit greatly from rolling road session.
Paint work is a little flat from being in storage, good polish required.
Headliner needs repair or replacement as it has come away at the rear
