Does anyone know if there is a circuit diagram for the instrument cluster - specifically an 83 GTI.
I have no rev counter, but the temp and fuel guage work, and I've replaced the 10v regulator.
All the dash and relevant warning lights work.
I've added an extra earth from the connector.
I've padded out the main connector with some electrical tape, so I'm pretty sure that is fully connected.
I'm working on the assumption that there must be a break somewhere in the mylar, but I can't see one. Figure if I had a circuit diagram I could work it out!
Thanks,
J

The haynes has the diagram, but it is a little hard to follow as the cluster isn't broken out like on later models.

Have you had a look at this…

The wire (red/black) at position 5 on the big 14 pin plug on the blue tab indicates that it operates the rev counter. It may be worth tracing that back to pin B/19 on the fuse box to ensure it's attached properly and without a break.
