Looking for some advice from anyone that has fitted a Wilwood proportioning valve (WPV) to a Gti tintop or is just better clued up on brake systems than I am.
The WPV has only 1 outlet for the rear brakes, so my intent is to fit a Tee on the front bulkhead and run lines down each side of the car to the rear wheels. NB I've fitted rear disc conversion.
My understanding is that the WPV negates the need for the OEM Brake Pressure Regulator at the rear of the car.
I know this question has been asked but i've seen various responses - with the above set up do I need to re-install the OEM proportioning valves after the tee in the rear brake pipe? I believe that the WPV controls the differential between the front and rear brake fluid, but are the original valves also required to balance the rear brakes left/right?
Thanks in advance,
Dylan

Would have thought you would need 2 wilwoods, 1 each side to keep the dual circuit braking system. By oem proportioning valves, do you mean the hexagonal things down in the engine bay under the servo m/c. I believe these should be removed any time rear discs are fitted.
This is the Wilwood unit FYI, I dont believe 2 are required.
Wilwood Disc Brakes - MasterCylinder No: 260-11179
And yes, I am referring to the hexagonal things - maybe I'm not giving them their correct name?

They are residual pressure valves that help to maintain a 10psi line pressure for the rear drums. As abf said, you won't need them when running discs. If you are worried you can get lower pressure ones suitable for discs, but probably overkill for a road car.

Thanks mate - and am I correct in saying that the OEM Brake Pressure Regulator is no longer required either, given the single outlet for the rear brakes? Not the end of the world if I have to change things in future but id like to run the lines down each side of the car from front to back, rather than running them side by side and then branching off at the rear.
I guess I could run the single line front to rear and then install the tee at the rear, would save on materials…
