connected dizzy to wrong terminal on coil-damage near fire! now no spark...help
Hi I was a complete MUPPET today.. Removed (green) wire to dizzy from coil and connected by mistake to wrong LV terminal on the coil (should have been to the red/black feed from ign terminal ). This caused a short and points to melt!! and condensor too.. This happened when I turned on ignition. I cried…
By chance I had new spare coil, points, cap,arm and condensor, so after cleaning up, putting the wire onto the correct coil terminal, and replacing these I expected it to fire up-nothing! tried another set of everything-no spark. Re checked a billion times the gap and that all was right but there is no spark, no spark at points if you seperate them with ign on . Also changed HT leads. No melted wires as far as I can see as the points wire burnt through first.
I used Haynes and with a points gap present there was 12v between the moving point and earth and there is 12v at coil LV A mate got an HT shock once but that is all.
Is there another fuse hidden? All fuses on board are ok. Is there a relay? identified that the only relays on fuse board were not ignition.
Is there a ballast resister or balast wire (Haynes mentions this) but I am not sure where it is or if it relates to the ignition.
PLEASE can someone help as its due itys MOT on Tuesday and its completely dead.Does the brilliant Rubjonny still post?
WHAT GET'S DAMAGES IF MIXING UP COIL LV WIRES OTHER THAN THE ABOVE?
