My cabby clean up

Hi all and welcome to my mini resto/mainly cleaning and sorting bits and bobs out. I've had the cab a month or two now and figured it was about time I added some pics

When I picked it up.


Engine bay as it was

Rad fan housing and other bits in funky colours removed for stripping and painting.

Dash clean up and wheel change.

Dash looks lovely and clean. Loving the marigolds  

Rear belts fitted


Fuel vapor separator pot needed a wire brush


Engine bay as it looks now, still lots to do but it's getting better.

What can I say, real men rubber up.

Interior looks spot on too mate. Engine bay coming along nicely as well

And the undecided part whether to run with these

Hub caps all cleaned and polished up ready for the steels to be blasted and coated.

here are a couple of shots of my wheels with chrome hubcaps. First the original steels, with 175/70/13 tyres:





And now with Seat Ibiza wheels and 185/60/14 tyres, which givi it a slightly harder ride and a more aggressive stance.

Thanks for the pics robin, i like look of them. definitely going to get the steel wheels done and worse case if I don't like them I'll have a winter set.

Started on the wheels getting them filled and primed.





Don't worry that's not going to be the finished colour

New fuel lines oil and coolant flush with some block cleaning and cable rerouting makes for a happier looking engine bay

Thanks smudger, trying to get it to a decent state ready for some shows, nothing show and shine, but enough to not feel ashamed about.

Lots and lots of good cleaning made me realise two things, one how bad it was and two how blue a blue roof is! However along with its clean hood it's now sat back on its original suspension and has new clutch and accelerator cables and new grommets too, turns out the old accelerator cable was just held in to the pedal with hope and prayers. Hopefully I won't need a new clutch cable again for a long time as the bulkhead grommet is such a tight fit I ended up using a broom handle cut slightly to fit around the cable for some extra push!
