Those famous last words of I'm only going out to change remove some nuts and bolts, was aiming for exhaust manifold removal to change it to a six bolt style rather than the toilet bowl one. Slightly more of a job than I was expecting

Well at least you know it will all be in fine fettle when it goes back together

So today wasn't bad for a Monday evening
Got some bits off for powder coating, blasted and lacquered the vapor seperator and cleaned up the head, replaced almost all exhaust manifold studs and sheared two bolts of the coolant flange, but they are a problem for tomorrow!

And have a custom stainless heat shield underway for my new 6 bolt exhaust so I don't melt the steering boots. Will get pics up when it's done

Looks very nice Jules.

Do you have a timeframe to get the engine all back together?

I have to ask where you found the interior? It's very nice.

cheers

The engine hopefully will be back together next weekend, the cabby is stored about 75 miles away so I only get to work on it every so often, but hoping I can get it in and fluids sorted in a day, but whilst I'm at it I'm going for new spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm.

Interior was off a chap on here, scirocco front seats and all recovered a couple of years ago but barely used.

Yeah it's back at my parents over winter as the garage was being unused so I thought best to keep it there whilst I sort it out ready for summer. Not a lot left to do now though so it's almost ready, just wishing I'd done the exhaust manifold sooner rather than doing the engine bay a little at a time.

What a morning. Cylinder head is rebuilt and on the car, all connected and flushed through. Gear linkages and bushes are all changed and new down pipe is on. Just waiting for the battery to charge to hopefully fire it up. And then on to the polishing jobs.
