I had just finished my other projects, a tintop and sportline cabriolet, decided to sell both and invest in one, I was looking for a new project, but something a little different to the norm.
I purchased my current Mk1 last September 2017 from a Mk1 golf owners and club committee members Elvis & Anna.
This campaign model has had a major rebuilt and engine transplant in 2010/11 with a 1.8T APX Audi TT installed with only 1,500 miles on the dials. The car itself was in pretty good nick, panels were pretty straight, just the paintwork needed some TLC and the interior some updating. I test drove it in July at the AGM.
In September, did the deal - jumped on a Ryanair flight to Birmingham and returned via the Holyhead - Dublin ferry.
Some pictures from last summer…

Over the winter months the lads at RM Crash Repairs in Kilkenny did a cracking job on the car going through it panel by panel and resparaying the full car (minus the roof) in the same colour red which is a Seat Rojo Emocian S3H.
Personally I like the colour - its a little different but suits the car as its a small bit modified.
I also swapped out the full interior front and back seats for my own re trimmed recaro sportline seats which are now snug as a bug.

What size are the Pirelli wheels? They look bigger than standard or is that just my eyes? I would love a set for mine but have bigger front brakes so the 14" are not an option for me.

Hi Rich - P slots are the bigger 15' with 185/45/15 Nangkang tyres all round. It had the bigger servo and brake upgrade completed with rear disk conversion too. So it stops…. pretty good.

Hugh, have to say this is one of my favourite Mk1's. I remember seeing it at Dubshed a couple of years ago with the English reg on it. When I saw the recent Dubshed pics from this year's show and it had a Kilkenny plate on, I did wonder if you'd bought it. Did you not win "Best of Show" at Dubshed too ?

Hi Pistol Pete Yes a winner at Dubshed 2018. I'll pop up a few pics.
I don't think this was the same car at Dubshed a few years ago. Its first time on these shores. It would have been a regular attendee at various UK shows.
Your welcome to come and spin in it anytime. It's fast but also quite comfortable at normal speeds. It tick over nice when idling and fuel economy is sensible.

They have cost me a few bucks with material, re trim, height adjust bases etc but probably will stay with me for the foreseeable future.
Nice and comfortable on a long spin.
