Visited my cabby, and took a charged battery to start her up.
primed and started first time. phew.
lots of condensation muck at bottom of dipstick and zero oil.
added 1 litre and few pints of fresh fuel and ran for twenty mins until settled down ,
even the exhaust hole noise it ran quietly phew
BUT ,, drivers door still held shut by string due to me dropping striker pin back plate into pillar.
looking at various pictures its the door card to come off, boooo its soooo brittle..
but will have to wait until warmer before moving plastic , snappit dammit regretit.
thanks to all those images of bare shell refurbs it shows from inside where striker pin would be and yes phew it has hopefully settled into cavity.

pretty simple dude… unscrew the rear window winder - pop off the plastic from the centre (quite tricky but pull the outers of the round bit handle sides [|o|] if you know what i mean) which will show a pozi screw, take this off & the bezel… pop the rear door card gently & take out top upwards, from the seatbelt cover & you see the shell with the rear speaker too… put your hand in & have a feel about!  then do the reverse to put your door card back on. Simples  p.s. don't forget which angle your handle was facing before putting it back on. 15 minutes job done.

And don't forget to get really OCD and line up the handle with the other side

Run it up to temperature, adjusted the idle, debated starting on the fuel filler neck but didn't fancy it after already being underneath cars for 10 hours today

Stripped down the sportline interior as its sold, getting shipped over the weekend, sad to see it go really as they're amazing seats, but just doesn't fit with the style I'm going for

My OCD taking over…

So true mate! Have you got the actual cabriolet one, or are you cutting a tintop down? Cause you can add a few zeros next to the 5 for getting the angle right on the tin top ones!

Ahh I shall have to view a members car for the angles.
I do remember getting in one as a kid and being warned to keep clear to prevent snapping/straining it and not to catch seat belt on it. Ahh memories.
Now where did I put that lottery ticket ?????

  It's had a tintop one fitted at some point in it's life which made the cap sit at an angle, I spent several hours bending and swearing at it but it just wouldn't play ball so I coughed out for a cabriolet one

Spent £230 on smiles.   Well it's better than thinking of it as road tax…..  And dusted it off after the winter to take it for a drive.
