Big twin instead of your normal 4 pot
I'm just condidering a Mk 1 engine conversion, I was going to go down the busa/blackbird/zx12r route, front engined rear wheel drive, but people seem to think there's not enough torque, soooooo, I was wondering if anybody has tried sticking a big twin in there instead, Ducati/RSVP/TL 1000 ect…? Could be interesting, or is there a reason I've never seen one?? Thoughts please anyone?
Cheers, si.

And you could also bolt on a turbo

any bike engine will be down on torque in a car because its designed for something that weighs 200kg.
the thing id consider is do you like driving something something revvy like a type r and work well on a track or do you want to cruise and be able to stick it in top gear and pull because you will not find this from a bike engine.

If you got a bike engine running 200bhp v's a car engine at 200bhp the car would have more torque and a lower Rev range.
Then again if you wanted something that sounds awesome at 11,000 rpm then got a for a flat four bike engine.
For me it depends on what your planning on using it for.
Bike engine for a show car with track use.
Car engine for easier conversion, more bhp and torque still do tracks and shows.
Don't get me wrong a busa turbo will put out plenty of bhp but at what cost compared to a 20vt?

if you use a rear diff with a relatively low gear ratio then the lack of torque shouldn't be a problem.
I had considered building one myself. Was planning on using a Subaru rear subframe and diff etc. you can get a number of different ratio diffs depending on the model of scooby. Combined with a slightly smaller wheel/tyre size it would effectively lower the gearing and provide greater torque to pull you along.
