Just pondering really. I've got one project on the go at the mo but whilst changing the antifreeze on my GTi i wondered how far one can go with this engine and what its limitations are. I want to retain the 8v head and injection system though…
I'm prepared to bore out to 2.0 (is further possible?) but will not go down the cheaper route of buying a second hand block as i want the numbers to match up.
Porting.. Does this engine respond well to huge ports? Will bigger valves fit without upsetting flow into the cylinders?
What sort of power / revs can the crank / stock pistons / rods take?
Are the pistons / rods the limiting factor on revs or does the valve gear bust up first?
Does anyone on here have a super duper GTi with a similar spec and can offer their thoughts on it?
Basically, money no object, what would be the ultimate 8v GTI? Not that i have any money, blimming redundancy took care of that but i'm working on it
Cheers
Rob.
