I'm in need of some help!
A few months back a whining noise was coming from the in-line fuel pump on my '82 1.6 gti. It would also cause the car to cut out. I pressumed that the problem was due to a blockage as i had stupidly left the fuel level get quite low. The fuel pump was replaced and the problem was sorted.
I took my golf out this week and the same problem happening again, although not as severe; I managed to limp the car home. Slight bubling and some fuel appeared from the nut on the fuel pump; the main body nut and second one with the coppper washer inbetween.
I'm wondering whether the nut just needs tightening up or do you think there are other underlying problems? I would simply tighten the nut up and try it but the fuel pump is now off and wanted to know if it's worth investigating anything else while it's off the road now? Is there anything else I should look out for?
Many thanks for any help!

they are available from classic parts:

the cap nut on the end is N 0110691, and the fuel pipe copper washers are N 0138128. I cant see a washer listed for the NR valve, maybe it comes with one? if not one of the cap ones will probably work
