which one and why?
The 20vt engine conversation is still very popular, especially as the older AGU engine can be bought pretty cheap nowadays.
There are quite a number of big power 20vt's out there, but it would appear to you still have to spend a lot of money to get reliable big power from one. (Forge Motorsport Berg MK1 is probably a good example).
So why not a just use a tfsi engine instead and retain factory reliability?

1.8T side engine mount and 02J gearbox mount.
I have JMR world Cup style front and rear mounts, the front will have to be modded slightly.
The engine needs a fuel pressure or around 6.6 bar iirc, the high pressure cam driven pump does the rest.
I'll get a thread up for mine when I start it!

QPeng website mentions that the original k-jet pump, provided in good condition, should be able to provide enough fuel pressure. I believe the k-jet pump delivers around 5 bar. If so, that's one less thing to worry about.

I have a K04 turbo engine on the way for my Mk1, should be here next week.
Its a BYD out of a Seat Leon Cupra 240 BHP, same as an ED30 Gti engine.

other problem is that the rev counter and some of the other signals comes out the CAN BUS, so you would need some kind of device that can pull this signal out and convert it to the mk1 clock signal, though of course you could fit later clocks if you wanted.
everything else can be sorted relatively easily as already mentioned.
