I've been scurrying the net for the answers to my problems all afternoon.cf_emoticons__BangHead: And I seem to have no luck.
I have converted my small block 1093cc engine code FA to a KR engine fitted with Dellorto carbs.
My queries:
- Where is best to get a live feed for the facet fuel pump? I have a surplus lead from the original carb, which I believe was for the fuel cut-off valve that maybe used??
- Would anyone recommend me wrapping my exhaust manifold in heat wrap to prevent heat transfer on the steering rack and bulk head? It looks rather close (see image)
- More questions to come…
Any help would be appreciated. If anyone has done this conversion can you drop me the link if possible.

As for the feed for the pump you could run a live from the ignition so its on with that. I would recommend fitting a cut off to the supply. I used one from a Ford Sierra (found in the spare wheel well-look at a scrappy). These just have a switch in that switches off the power if the car is hit or rolls so the pump won't kep running (possibly causing a fire).
I also had the fuel pump mounted under the car near to the spare wheel well as these pumps prefer to push the fuel rather that try to pull it all the way from the rear of the car.
I hope all this helps

Will Do more than burn/scorch the paint if the boot melts. It WILL burn the car down, 1st hand experience myself. Wrap either just make sure there's protection to the boot.
I have a dilemma with the transmission.
I bought the engine fitted with a GTI s1 4 speed box with no driveshafts. My original 90mm driveshafts from the small block (engine code FA) are too long. We have moved the engine on the mounts, and even disconnected the CV joint but still we are 10-20mm too long on the driveshafts.
- Can anyone advise what route to take with gearbox, gear linkage, driveshafts, etc…?
This is the only obstacle I have to get my wonderful mk1 back on the tarmac.

then run the pump power either to E/14, or the large spade N on the rear of the fusebox. if you use E/14 this is fused, but you'll need to get yourself a large side round pin from another loom. If you use spade N this is unfused so add an inline fuse above the fusebox for it.
this way the pump will cut out if you have a crash so is much safer than if you just give it a live feed

The carbs were serviced before I bought them along with the engine, with part receipts directly from Dellorto.
I'm using a mk3 polo rad as the water inlet/outlet is the passenger side of the car. Easier routing for hosing. Theres many variations you can use. I bought a sucker fan from crazy quiffs to allow more room in the bay.
