Stainless steel, but 'standard', exhaust..

Anyone know a good supplier?
My '82 mk1 GTi 1800cc 8v is perfectly standard, including the exhaust, and I don't want to change that! The exhaust rear section is relatively new and in great condition but the manifold and front section are a bit tired and will need replaced in the near future.
I'd like to buy a stainless steel manifold and full system but don't want anything 'big bore' and loud. What I want is a standard exhaust in stainless. If it must have a shiny tail pipe I'd like it to be a similar diameter to standard, or only slightly larger.
Does anyone know whether such a thing exists, and if so, who is a reliable supplier?
I've even thought about buying one of the easily available (Jetex, for instance) stainless manifolds and front sections but keeping a standard rear section! Is this just plain madness?! Thanks for your help, Andrew

Funny you should say that, as I have spoken to their Nottingham branch today.pearcestu said
long life can make a custom exhaust for any car, not sure on price but they will be able to make something very close to standard but in stainless steel.
We are after middle section & back box.
No bad boy big bore and it needs to be as quiet and as close to stock as possible.
Now I know this may not be achievable, but it was only £50 more than someone else quoted me today for a Bosal mild steel, amd comes with a lot longer warranty.
Anyone dealt with Longlife?
Can a stainless really be that quiet without?

Longlife say this on their website, on the 'standard replacement' page: we have developed a range of silencers specifically designed to keep your vehicle quiet.
I've made an enquiry with them and will let you know what they say!

Opted to go for a slightly larger bore than original and with a mid sport noise.
Gives a nice burble when idling.
I did have the option to go for the same size and a silent option.
Service was spot on

I'm still waiting for a response from longlife. I get the impression they'll build a system pretty much to your specifications.. Andy

The longlife looked excellent, and they said they can make them quiet.
The problem is, I have a little demon in my head (No, not the Mrs!!) that simply keeps repeatin 'as it came out of the box', and that is where we like to be.
If you have a Longlife fitted please put a review up.
