mk1 vr6 - wishbones/shafts/hubs - Having a nightmare!

Im having a bit of a nightmare with my running gear and hoping someone can identify where im going wrong as I def am somewhere i think. :banghead:  :banghead:

Currently it has what i think is mk2 wishbones, vr6 hub and hub carrier and vr6 ball joint. The passenger side driveshaft is a tiny bit to long, could it be because I have the wrong set-up?? Is the vr6 hub carrier not a good idea?

This is frazziling my brain and spent putting a spanner in the works!

Any recommendations for the correct set-up? :dontknow:

mk2 wishbones would be a massive job to fit, pics?

alrighty you have mk1 wishbones and mk3 5 stud bearing carriers, an interesting combination!

you might need some ball joint/track rod spacers to correct the bump steer but you're a long way off worrying about that yet

I dont think the bearing carriers will have much effect on the lengths you need, its still going to be down to a custom set of shafts to suit a mk1 vr6. to find out the lengths you need it might be worth looking around on the vw vortex, they have a few mk1 vr6 builds going on there.

another option is try to get the car sitting level then measure from the flanges to the hubs, then ask someone around here to do the same on their mk1

Thanks John, i dont realy want to be converting everything back to 4 stud as
thats what someone else suggested, and also said that ill have loads of
Problems with 5 stud!  :dontknow:

Think Im going to crack on with the rest of the car anyway and sort the shafts out later.

well 5 stud is the least of your worries right now! if you can get shafts the right length you're sorted, 5 stud discs all bolt right on. even if you did go back to 4 stud it wouldnt help, you would still need custom length shafts because the vr6 doesnt sit the same as the 4 cylinder engines so it moves the gearbox. this is where the problems are coming from
