Carb problem, fuel leak
Not previously noticed when car had been stood when looking under the bonnet tho,
Could this require a rebuild kit or could i simply change the gasket if i find out what model carb is fitted? Any help much appreciated can try add a pic if it helps to show the prob,
cheers

Hi our knowledge on carbs is very little to be honest, Unsure if its an orginal or webber i was planning on just stripping it down and going from there,

These do perish overtime and comon to do so.
But from experience i never had a fuel leak on any of my cars, maybe jsut me constantly maintaining and being ott helps lol.
Anyway, disconnect battery and fuel line to carb (Block this line off so no fuel leakage) remove airbox, then disconnect the accelator cable and choke cable to the carb.
Then undo the 4 x 13mm nuts from the base and remove the carb.
You will need to remove the base plate now from the rubber gasket via the 3 hex headed studs and now you have full view of the rubber gasket.
Lastly the ruber gasket is secured to the manifold via 4 x 10mm studs located at 3,6,9 & 12 o'clock positions, simply undo and remove gasket.
You will now see if there is any damage to the gasket.
Simply look on the inside rim i.e. middle hole for bubbles of any kind..
Now check carefully and slowly as you can miss them due to rubber flexing your looking for slight splits on the side in the groove, check everywhere adn also where the rubber is joined to the metal plating of the gasket underneath.
If you see any splits etc, change the flange and hopefully your sorted

Are all the Gaskets the same or different dependent on model of carb?

It is the standard replacement for the original carb that would have been on yours, i.e the pierburg 2e2.
The flange is right fella, get it and fit.
You can get them from crazy on the left, eurocarparts and GSF
