HotTunning coilovers - far too hard
Bought some of those cheap coilovers from ebay (german based seller). My next door neighbour had a go at fitting them and said he had to "pressurise the rears" to get them on?! After which no amount of adjusting stops the rear end bouncing off the road at the slightest bump.
Has he b*ggered them beyond repair or is there a way to fix?
Cheers,
Adam.

Its very unlikely he's broken them unless he used tools and cut into them in some way, or unscrewed something important.
How low/high is the car - pics would help.

I'm confused as to the "stop" you are adjusting, can you explain?
I have been running hot tunning coils for 2 years and think the ride is ok bearing in mind how low I run it.
The guy who fitted them didn't take them all apart and muddle the springs up or something equally stupid did he?? fitting them should be easy and not take more than a couple of hours

White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!
Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.

Have you run a car on coils before?

I've stuck a couple of breezeblocks in the boot just to add a bit of weight and stop it bouncing off the road for the meantime lol.

it's not the bump stops as the car DOES rebound it's just very stiff. driving along the road at 30-40mph your voice is shuddering just trying to talk. couldn't attempt a dirt track or even a b-road, i'd be shook to bits lol.

the ebay seller "hottuninggermany" no longer exists but "hottuning_eu" DOES and is selling the exact same coilovers today. I emailed them and got the reply, we are a different company entirely, the people you want are "tuningworldusa".
so I google's tuningworldusa and find they have a UK ebay store not selling anything but HAVE done in the past. Emailed them but got no reply.
Last resort with these is to adjust them myself, hoping the lower I go the more bareable it is to drive!
Anyone got a guide or how-to on adjusting rear (and front) coilovers with the c-spanner they came with?

I have the same hot tunning suspension on the clipper it's low and it runs fine, but no means does it make you feel sick.
Out of curiosity, what top mounts are you running? and are any other parts upgraded or maybe worn out?
If you look on the left hand side of the forum page, there is an advert for a hottunning company, as they have the same name then I'm sure they are linked, they all seem to ship from Belgium.

I've now switched back to kw v2's. Justy shows the that the cost factor is linked to the quality.

I'm using the car daily just now so haven't had a chance to adjust (raise) the rear to see if it makes a difference or not.
Also considering just buying new shocks and springs, I only want it to look a LITTLE lower but retain the road comfort for summertime drives.

You may be better of with shocks and springs setup from kw or h&r, as you only want to go a little lower.

Standard I believe, I replaced the front standard mounts with like-for-like new ones as they were buggered but didn't bother with rears.
Would dodgy rear top mounts have that much of an impact on the suspension hardness though?

I suspect the problem lays at the cheap coils tho.
If you do change the suspension I'd get some new rear mounts, mine are genuine parts, still available and not too expensive.
