Hi Haydn Yes no problem, good place to meet and good to put names to faces etc. Easy to spot me in a tatty Black and white MK1 Berg cup reject , never many Mk1's out down here, usually a few down the South West but not in Wales.
Entry is free, there's a Cafe and you get access to the pits and see the racing. It's a Sprint circuit so not a big track but fun to drive and watch. car park not huge but always some where to park as it's a little off the main road.
Car should be quick this year, 200bhp in an 8v Mk1 makes it a bit of an animal, should give the 16v's a run for their money Fun if you like MK1's

meet at llandow
lets make this a meet i will look at posting map to get there, see note below from tattymk1
Hi Haydn,
Racers normally get there about 7.00>8.00 am (or you end up at the far end of the pits). I guess practice will start about 9.00 to 9.30 and they have an hour for the marshals to have some food midday. Timed runs start after that and run on to about 5.00. Prize giving after that - not that I normally get a prize but I have won 2.0ltr Mod Prod in the Golf at Llandow before!!
People come in and out all day to watch, although more people normally turn up in the afternoon. It's a good format as for spectators the practice is essentially the same as timed as sprinting is by nature flat out on cold tyres so it all looks the same. Normally a good mix of saloons, kitcars and single seaters.

No other VW's out last time I looked but a few hatches out in my class. Might be a bit damp looking at the forecast, not as much fun as the dry but will suit the Golf so not such a bad thing.
Llandow is spectator friendly so a great place to come and have a look and you can have a nose around the pits which is what I like to do if I go anywhere. Cafe has been revamped this year, it was ok before, quite handy to have on site.

Good to meet you Haydn, thanks to you and you daughter for coming along. Shame no one else turned up as sprinting is good to watch but we are all different. Didn't have a huge amount of time to chat as I needed to get some fuel in the car and give it a check over before my first timed run in the afternoon.
Won my class, not far off the class record . Was in the middle of the Caterhams and Westfields and not far off some of the single seaters plus the fastest saloon car on the day so really pleased. MK1 8v Golfs are still at the front after nearly 35 years Got second in class at Llys y fran on Sunday which I was happy with as the car is better sprinting than hillclimbing (llys is a hillclimb).
At Pembrey on the 4th and 5th of June, Epynt on the 18th and 19th and back in Llandow again on the 16th July, Llys y fran on the 17th. May well be down the South West in Mamhead and Wiscombe later in the year as well as at Loton Park and Castle Combe, depends on work and cash
If anyone wants to come along I'm sure you would enjoy if you like motorsport and even more so if you like MK1 Golfs. Llandow is free, you will probably need to pay at the other venues but it's not like F1. Worth a look as there is an SP class (standard production) where the car must be totally standard, so no costs what so vere other than race suit etc and entry fee. Gives you a good taster for motorsport without great expense if you ever fancied a go.
