Help - GTI wont Start
Fuel Pump working
relay working
Good pressure
Spark on Ignition
Fuel coming through filter
Car will run for 30 seconds then stop if accelarator is depressed the car stalls then you have to wait before doing this again as the car will just turn over.
The only visable problem I can see is the sender unit in the tank is slightly damaged/cracked. only one pump on the outside of the tank. I have searched the forums to no avail so before I send to a garage can any one help!! :dontknow:

when was the last time you changed the fuel filter dude? - does it cut out instantly if you try lightly and slowly press accelerator? or does it more stutter a bit then die?could be fuel starvation due to rubbish in filter
Is your fuel filler neck rusty?? This coud be a sign that there is a lot of rust and rubbish in the tank. Have a look inside the fuel cap.
Also make sure all your hoses are in good nick with no vacuum leaks.
mini old skool of course - 1310, lightened and balanced bottom end, fast road cam, MG head, Megajolt + EDIS, stripped out interior

Its a shout for help which is Mk1 related and an offer for someone to come to me!! its been in the fix it area for ages and no one answers it!! I thought this was a site to preseve the mk1 golf not let them rust on the drive or for owners to get robbed by garages!
its looking more like there is crap in the injection housing as the fuel filler is brand new and there is some rust bits in the tank I have someone who has kindly offered there assistance since it was in Mk1 Related forum!!

Even though the fuel pump was working it seems the insides had failed and only would produce a small amount of pressure to the metering head, new bosch fuel pump from eurocar parts for £93 got the car firing and running but be sure to make tight the pipework around the pump.
Slight timing issue and a new fuel gauge sender unit due to the old one being cracked!
But it seems to be sure you check the pump on this car as the route to all evil to start with!
