Lawsy family - BLUEY - project 2 tone commences....
Lawsy picked it up last night with the help of the AA, 5 hours to do 50 miles so he was not too impressed. The AA was needed as there was no tax on it so he "broke" down a mile from where he picked it up from. It has not been loved for ages so it has a few issues , such as : miss firing (think timing is out), front suspension top mounts need changing desperately but luckily lawsy has taken a set off of the Hof so they will fit a treat, carb might be temperemental but that could be down to misfiring , few scrapes to the body work but arches and underneath are solid. It seems to have also had an attack of the seagulls, wish it were that simple, the large white splodge on the bonnet and roof is where it has been parked in a garage under a block of flats with a leak so it appears to be a concrete residue that has dripped down , so any ideas on how to remove this would be appreciated.
here are some pics , and i would like you all to welcome BLU-Y pronounced BLUEY to the family.

I will keep you all posted on my progress, and yes i will be helping lawsy with the mechanical side of things.
and i am sure in the weeks to come you will see my take on things

concrete dust is a bit of a bugger. you may find it's actually limescale though.
lots of spit and polish should remove it though. it should only be on the laquer so pinch steves cleaning products that he isn't using now he has the hof and go to work with lots of clean cloths.

At least you'll know if/when you've gone right through the clearcoat and into the paintwork - the cloth will go from being kind of silvery/whitish/cloudy to red! Be very careful not to go through the clearcoat when polishing. If you do then it will need to be feathered in and out, which will be difficult on the roof. It might be the concrete dust has already affected more than the clearcoat, in which case….. lots more work.

Apart from the little bits (I hope) and bobs it's look good, brown dash to match the seats? head lining looks good, and even though you said about the top mounts it seems to be sitting nice and level.
I reckon you got a bargin there!

Might even attempt to get it running, Its a years MOT on it and after searching under the arches, filler neck, inside boot turrets, spare wheel wheel well, floor pan, axle mounts etc etc cant seee any signs of rust, there's a few scrapes in the bodywork and a few have a little surface rust, but the main thing is it doesnt need welding, just a really good clean. All i can see wrong with it at the moment is its running, I'm guessing taht the carbs very dirty, been stood for a couple of years and the timing seems way out, popping and backfiring when its running..
anyways, that enough of my input, its MrsLawsy's car and I'm sure she'll be updating with the progress.. Watch this space

Done thati T-Cutted a lot of red off my car today, but 3 coats of wax seems to stop any tarnishing/corrosion
Yeah but your car is a solid colour, Wendy's is a metallic so it has a clearcoat over the top of the metallic base coat. T-Cutting a solid colour car (beware, a lot these days also have clearcoat) will naturally colour the cloth with the paint colour of the car.
