I just spent 10mins looking through the 1,000's of iphone photos I have, you really forget how many you rake!

Here is the one you want for a 55l tank, and the new one is a tin top, shows you how much you have to mod (and hopefully the right one for your car - my old one)

I recon you have a scirocco one perhaps, looks like the picture in ETKA anyway.

just to confirm for anyone reading this that the cabrio up to 1983 use the same fuel tank and filler neck as the mk1 tintop, then from 84 onwards they got the larger tank, shallower boot with space save spare and shorter filler neck

Any update on the filler neck and which one you have fitted?

Let me know how you get on, I was checking mine over last night and removed it to tidy up some surface rust around the hole in the side of the car and I have a tiny hole at the top of the filler neck when I  gave it a strub with a wire brush….
Mine is the same as yours So I need to get a replacement  as well.  :'(

Not going too well mate. Getting a bit on a thorn in my side this car. Got the tintop neck, sliced it down to size. But it doesn't fit properly; the shape, the angles it's just not working out. I know Crazy Quiffs has the right part to save bodging but I can't justify £175 and even then they're out of stock. Getting a totally bored of it now so will have a look again next week on my day off.

Edit: Think I'm going to buy a flexible universal fuel neck to tank pipe cut to appropriate length and use the short neck

I've just ordered a tintop filler neck so I'll let you know how I get on.

Alex you need to chop a load off, then heat it up until it glows and bend it round, it really is a pain in the arse but you'll get there mate

I've chopped it up, it's the shape that's the issue. Can't be arsed to heat and bend especially after I've slapped a load of hammerite all over the buggering thing.

Oh dear I thought you just had to chop a bit of the end!
Dam and blast……
Here's mine with a hole in it, I'm changing the engine and fitting new injectors and don't want grit and water in my fuel system. It does look the same as yours.

This is what I did to solve the problem, paid someone to cut the end off and weld it back on so the angle is right, well worth the £10 and still a lot cheaper than a cabriolet filler neck.
I think heating it up and bending the pipe will just end up crushing the bit of pipe which is bent.
You can see the difference

Cut and welded

Trial fit yesterday and all good so just getting painted now.
