Tyres - going mad

Post

its time to get tyres for my wheels, but its an absolute mine field and just when i think i know what to buy i find some bad reviews, once the cars complete it will be pretty much a fair weather car and ive got the original Pslots on.

if anyone wishs to share there experiences with different tyres be great to hear some feedback. when i bought the car it had ATS cups and T1r rubber which i thought was great. i had eagle f1 on my cups when i took it off the road but they never really felt right compared to the T1rs

i started looking at what i new and extreme track

toyo R888s 185/60/14 (slightly worried there too soft)
and T1r 195/55/14 (had previously)

ive then gone on to look at

Nankang NS-2R - worried that they come with the ditchfinder name and i did actually have a set on a polo and end up in a ditch not ns2r but ditchfinder model
Yoko A048 advan
KUMO

then full circle on toyo cf2
yoko ae01
pirelli p1

the engines a 2.0 with cam, BVH and few other mods, im on coilovers so not worried about a rough ride. the exhausts straight through so not worried about road noise. and mileage isnt going to be massive so wear isnt a massive factor long as they dont run out in 1-2k. (hense why leaning towards the softer track stuff)

I have Goodyear efficient grip, quite sticky rubber, I was running some very old odd rubber before that was on the car when i brought her. In my opinion the goodyears are very good and have greatly improved handling, noise and safety. Every one has their own favourites and opinions.

Toyo just brought out R1Rs earlier this year, just to throw another one into the mix! I have them on mine in 195/50 R15's and very happy with them.

i did look at these but they dont make them in 14.

i ended up making a decision last night and went and treated myself to toyo R888's
the mazda eunos has the same tyre size and alot of reviews from them sold them to me. lets see how many miles i get from them now. at least ive got 500 miles of running the engine in to get used to them.

they look pretty awesome too.
