Twin slimline radiator fans

Post

It's nearly twitchy bum time with the 1.8t conversion first start looming !

i have fitted twin 10" fans both are 80w each. What is the best way to go about wiring these? I will be using the original 90-95 single speed switch on the radiator however I am concerned about the extra power running through the original wiring/relay/fuse. Would it be better to run positive and negative direct to battery with inline fuse and thicker wires or is the standard setup man enough ? I may also decide to wire in the coolant after run pump I got with the 1.8t engine

thanks

I have the same arrangement in mine. Only difference is that mine was the three pin version. If I were you, I'd change to the three pin radiator thermostat and run new wiring between the switch and fans. I have one fan per switch outlet and to date the second fan has yet to come on (unless I unplug the first fan). The wiring should be direct from the battery with inline fuse.

Considering where the battery, fan and switch are located, you'd be as well as putting in new wires throughout as it'll tidy it up no end. One of the best purchases I made last year was £4 for some loom tape from eBay. Very tidy.

I also upgraded to a direnza radiator too.

stock fan switch is capable of running up to 250w fan so it should be fine, as will the wiring if in good nick. no problem running wire from battery with inline fuse if you prefer!  stock rad fan fuse is 30a, so as long as both fans runnign together is less than that you'll be reet.
