clock

Hi people, my digital clock on my dash doesn't work, it never has in the 18 months I've had my car and it never really bothered me until I changed my stereo and it doesn't show the time when ive got my phone plugged in so now it's come to my attention lol! Will the clock itself be dead or will it just be the bulb behind it?

It won't be the bulb. More than likely the clock itself or a bad connection at the rear of the dash. Do you have a spare set of clocks you can rest with? This is the easiest way to carry out a quick check.

I don't believe the clock has a separate fuse, but it's worth checking in any case. 

Nah I don't have a spare set to check, I assume it would just be broke lol

so the time is blank? if so its not a bulb but rather the live feed to the clocks or the clocks themselves. what fusebox is it old skool ceramic or later blade?

It's the later blade fuse box, it's an 87 cab! And no there is no display at all

right check fuse 3, as above look at the plug too make sure all the pins are nice and straight and not squashed. the live for the clocks is the red wire so check for 12v here, and take care not to short it if you need to poke summat in to bend it out. pul lthe fuse 1st then go at it with the ignition off you wont do any damage.

you can pop the flap on the rear of the plug too then the pins pull out the back if that makes it easier, just be careful not to pull them all out as that would make things tricky to reassemble

the brown wire is the earth for the dahs so make sure thats got good continuity to ground, but its probably not that since the rest of the dash works ok (doesnt it?)
