Have you checked the hydraulic fuel level.

Also check the lever on pump from memory, you can wind it one way to make roof manual, and the other to engage the power hood

Have a look in the 'How To' section.

There's a post in there somewhere which will explain how to top up and bleed the pump.
It's fairly easy to do once you know how!

power hood

Put key in ignition do not turn.
Unlatch roof hook via handles.
Operate roof switch…

Pump whirs no roof action.

Open boot
Look to the left hand side where the black side panel is.
You should see a circular cut out. Inside there is a T shaped key.
Make sure this is tightened up by rotating clockwise.

If this is unwound the roof won't operate.

If it's done up you need to remove the side panel and check fluid.
The panels are held in by plastic plugs. You need to push the centre pins through and out then the plug can be popped out.

Now unwind the T key and lower the roof by hand.

You need to do this to check the fluid level correctly.
Once roof is down look at the plastic reservoir at the bottom of the pump. your fluid should sit in between the max and min lines.
If it's low you can top it up.
But you need to find out why.
There are some leaking points to look out for.
Sometimes the hose union connections  need resealing and checking a leak can form from where the ram piston comes out of the ram body.

Most common is the plastic reservoir it's self cracks around it's screw mounting hole.
Tell take sign is oil marks or stains.  On the boot floor.
Ideally you need to take both side panels off to check.

If the T screw is tight and the fluid level ok. Pump whirs but no roof action then it's likely the pump impeller has broken.
